Overview of audience
Once the mission is well grounded in their finances, they start trying to work on their next stage of internal growth, the well-being of their missionaries and the support-raising process. This usually means that they start tracking HR related data, and contact information (donors, etc.) Initially, the data is stored in separate databases, but very quiclky missions realize that they want one name/address for contacts, recepting, and staff. They start looking for a centralized database. At this time, some make the jump to a central database, but most missions cannot afford it so they remain with piecemeal data (scattered across multiple computers).
Other technological growth at this time
Infrastructure
Some missions start moving out of the peer-to-peer mode here. Many of the tools for contact sharing are client-server tools, which usually pushes the infrastructure to migrate that direction. Most missions initialy use a Microsoft server (Small Business Server is very cost-effective and functional for small organizations if you can get non-profit-pricing)
Data
The web-page usually remains static, as it was in the previous stage. Often pages for various ministries are added and the web-page is flushed out a bit more.
It is important that the mission start using a central email system at this point. They want to have their mission office to have email addresses that represent the mission as they end off emails to the various contacts.
What causes a mission to move on to the next audience
The next audience is Remote Workers. Basically as they want to start adding the capability for people to work from home or as they are traveling. It is a leap of functionality, not so much data-needs.
