Overview of audience
Missionaries on the field have a number of needs. They like to know how much finances have come in during the month, if donors/partners have stopped giving, the status of project funds, and much more. They need to change addresses of their contacts, write notes to thank them for additional giving, submit reimbursement requests, and update project information about current projects needing funds.
Other technological growth at this time
To accomplish the above, a serious intranet is usually put in place. Some organizations accomplish all the above through secure email, but most missions with to do it through customized web-pages.
Infrastructure
An intranet usually consists of web-pages with a database back-end, accessed through a vpn or ssl-web. The database back-end usually is the same one as used by the financial package, and specialized sql queries connect the two systems. Some high-end financial packages may have a portal for the missionaries that is a part of the financial package.
Data
What causes a mission to move on to the next audience
the next audience, 5 Donors, is usually desired shortly after setting up the portal for missionaries. Once the missionaries are contented with their infrastructure, the majority of the custom reports/changes will come from the donors.
