Mapping

There are many uses of mapping software in missions. Few missions really use mapping tools as efficiently as they should.

Statistics

Missions that track enough data can produce some very helpful maps showing their effectiveness. Maps can abstract data such that the names of missionaries are not used, thus offering some protection of their identity. These maps can show the areas where the mission is having a lot of impact, as well as show areas that the mission may be overlooking.

Churches that see maps can often visualize the effectiveness of the organization much better. They can be inspired to support areas of lesser impact, or to reach areas that are not being reached.

Visualization

Mapping can sometimes be used to get a fresh look at information that is so well known as to be rote. Seeing something in a visual format brings the data to life.
